So you're experiencing slow PC performance issues? Well, that's nothing new, happens to everyone at some point in time. The real question is, “Why is my computer running slow?”. The answer is by no means simple. Before we can answer the question, we need to determine the problem, and then hopefully we'll be able to speed up your PC.
There are a lot of factors that come into play here:
- the age of your computer
- the amount of physical memory in your machine
- the amount of available disk space - the amount of virtual memory available to Windows
- the amount of disk space available to the Windows Operating System
- the speed and type of video you have (hardware accelerated or not)
- network interface issues
- this is the interface you use to connect to
- wired or wireless networks, including the internet
- the performance and/or bandwidth of your internet connection
- do you have the best anti virus software or are you using bloatware
– a lot of anti virus tools may be scanning each file accessed on your machine in the background (known as on-demand scanning) thus consuming CPU and memory (we call this bloatware)
- are there any viruses, worms, trojans, keyloggers or other nasties hidding on your machine
- whether you have spyware and/or adware that may be stealing valueable CPU, memory and/or bandwidth
– did I hear someone say spyware / adware removal software
- what background processes are running on your machine – services, browser objects, etc.
- how up-to-date are your windows drivers
– running with old or default drivers can definately limit your system's performance
– by upgrading the drivers you can take advantage of additional functionality provided by the hardware
- how organized if your hard drive
– optimizing/defragging your drive can definately help
- do you have a lot of clutter on your machine
– temporary files, unused DLLs, activeX controls, etc?
So where can you get the answers to these questions, and ultimately the tools you need to solve your problems?
Simple, go to my website Slow-PC.com and read the information posted there. The information is all there.
And of course, so are the tools. There are links to all sorts of tools you can use to both diagnose problems, and solve them.
Additionally, you can download and install a copy of special “Slow-PC.com” toolbar in either Internet Explorer or FireFox, and have everything there at the tip of your fingers, including answers to common questions and links to ALL of the tools on my website.

Computer Tricks
Interesting post,
There are a lot of factors that can bring this about such as viruses, spyware or your PC might just be so old that it is waiting for your TLC. Unfortunately, this is not uncommon. PC owners can start experiencing slowdowns in their PC performance as early as the first year of having it. If you have already owned your PC for quite some time, you are most likely looking for ways of increasing the performance of your computer.
