When I was in grade school, I never imagined that soon the world will change so rapidly that CYBERSPACE would take the world via storm. When I was a child, I never imagined that soon most people would own cell phones and eventually all types of work can be transmitted in the internet. I marveled at my first encounter with the internet knowing that I can scour the world's libraries and view events halfway across the world in real time.

But now, I can say that I am a full-fledged citizen of cyberspace. My first experience with computers was only data processing. Soon I was putting all my life's work inside the computer. I was encoding my studies, my reports, my office files, everything in my laptop. But every good thing on earth has a bad side to it. While computers have made our lives a lot easier, too much dependence on the computers can also make one vulnerable to data loss.

I have known a doctoral student who put her dissertation in her laptop and her computer crashed. All her work for 3 years was gone in a flash. She has to start from scratch all over again. The lesson here is to always do a file backup. But this is not enough, even a good disk back up will never suffice. The best thing to do is to have all your most important files in a network backup system where all your computers in the office, home, and school can easily send and receive data. Now I am happy to have been born in an age of computers. With a good sync program, my cell phone where I put my appointments and things to do list and my most important contacts immediately sends and receives data to my computer. Thus I can easily organize my day.

Whatever changes and new files I make in my computer in my office I can easily access in my laptop while on travel. My server backup software allows me to customize my computers to suit my finest needs. I can have a unique interactive set up where I have complete control over my files.

With enhanced data protection, I am not afraid of computer virus and related accidents that would tantamount to data loss. Now I do everything with my cell phone and laptop. In fact I can say that my office is in cyberspace. I don't need to physically report to my boss every day. I just send my work over the net. In fact I can go many places with me and my laptop. I do banking, shopping, business, commerce, research and even sports online. That's the beauty of cyberspace if you have a good sync program to begin with.
